Late Spring Garden in Coloured Pencil, Graphite or Watercolour

Returning to this popular venue, The Nightingale Centre in Derbyshire, be inspired and enjoy the glories of the late spring garden, drawing or painting plants and twigs/shrubs that are about in the gardens at this lovely time of year.  With demonstrations and one to one tuition by professional artist and tutor, Sue Vize.

Big Blue Poppies in Watercolour or Coloured Pencil

This Saturday & Sunday workshop we will work from live plants painting these magnificent big blue flowers in watercolour. Under the guidance of you Meconopsis authority tutor capture the vibrant colours of blues, purples and pinks to make your painting really exciting. 

Sharon is a qualified Botanical Artist, Illustrator and Art Tutor. She teaches at the Royal Botanic Garden in Edinburgh and her work has featured in Curtis Botanical Magazine and other periodicals.

Layers and Layers - Beginners Coloured Pencil workshop

This workshop is aimed at those who have little or no experience using coloured pencils.  The workshop will show you how to make a start with a basic set of pencils and help you develop the techniques for building up layers of colour to produce depth and tone in your studies.  You can bring along a subject that you would like to try out in coloured pencil and this could range from plant material through to fruits, shells, pebbles, bark, feathers.

Enjoy your Watercolours

Enjoy using watercolour to achieve details and depth in your work.  Bring along shells, feathers, fruit or a favourite subject and learn rewarding techniques to achieve life like results.  This informative workshop is taught by professional artist and tutor Susan Hillier.  Susan's friendly and encouraging support and guidance will help you achieve very pleasing results.

Roses Roses Roses in Coloured Pencil, Graphite & Watercolour

Landscape Painting in June in Mixed Media - Weekend workshop

Be inspired by the beautiful Peak District countryside as it rolls into summer.  Using a variety of mixed media you will end the weekend having produced colourful and rewarding painting studies.  The Nightingale Centre is in the centre of an attractive Derbyshire village with limestone cottages, dry stone walls and countryside scenery.  Painting will take place in the Centre as well as in the surrounding village and fields.  You are welcome to paint using the media of your choice with the tutor demonstrating in various media including acrylics, inks, watercolours, charcoal, biro etc.  An en

Floral Climbers - all media, you choose!

Choose your own favourite floral climbers such as clematis, honeysuckle and hydrangeas and choose the medium you would like to use for these wonderful subjects.  Aimed at all abilities, this friendly and structured workshop allows you to enjoy the whole process at your own pace. Beautiful Shapes and Colours of Fruit Flowers and Vegetables in Watercolour

Starting with a simple drawing of the chosen subject, toanl values will then be explained and practised.  The use and mixing of colours will be explored and the subjects painted in watercolour.  Suitable for all abilities, working at their own pace with individual tution.
