Botanical and Landscape Painting course listings

This workshop is based on natural history painting in detail, using the same techniques as for botanical illustration.  Capture these wonderful subjects their delectable colours, interesting forms and fascinating structures under the expert tuition of experienced professional Susan Hiller.  A friendly informative workshop working at your own pace and developing your own style.

Using the plants available in the garden at this time of year we will work to develop compositions or sketchbook pieces that are evocative of the start of the growing season.  Focussing on painting yellows and accurate depiction of flower structure, we will work on creating compositions that include winter twigs and spring buds.

A chance to work from life.  This course will be a mix of botanical and natural history painting using shells, insects, dried plants seed heads or a subject of your choosing, whilst learning precise painting techniques.  Professional artist and tutor, Simon Williams enthusiastic approach will help you discover the skills to produce rewarding pieces of artwork to take away.

Study the interesting forms of fern fronds (crosiers) and delicate shapes of a variety of spring flowers such as cowslips, bluebells and violets, using watercolour, to create beautiful botanicals that capture the vibrant springtime.
